The TOC & FFDF Official Event Doctor, Dr Annie Gibier, is on-site and has made the following recommendations to combat heat fatigue:

a) All participants should drink 3 litres of water each day. IN ADDITION players should try to drink 3 litres of water per game with 1gr of salt per litre. This is not a typo – an additional 3 litres PER GAME!

b) Avoid playing bare foot. There are a lot of players coming in with minor burns on their foot arch. The injury itself is minor, but can be very painful and affect your play.

c) All tap water in Royan is drinkable. This includes the taps at the fields, the beach, the town fountains and all green pumps. If you have any concerns, water that is not drinkable will say ‘eau non potable’.
